‘A city within a park’: One of America’s ‘best places to live’ is closer than you think
It’s no secret that Westerville is a thriving, arts-focused city. Named one of America’s “Best Places to Live” by Money Magazine, and often referred to as a “city within a park,” Westerville is a destination for visitors and residents alike. Mark your calendars, because this summer—the city is transforming into a canvas.
As part of the America250 initiative, the City of Westerville, Visit Westerville, Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce, Otterbein University, Westerville Historical Society, and the Westerville Public Library & History Museum have worked together to launch the America250 Westerville Mural Project, bringing 12 large-scale vinyl murals to locations throughout the city this summer.
Each mural highlights under-told stories rooted in Westerville’s vibrant history—from environmental landscapes and transportation to stories of leadership, creativity, and resilience—inviting visitors and residents to explore the community in a new way.
The project features eight diverse, Ohio-based artists, with all murals produced locally at The Maker Space inside The Point at Otterbein University—connecting the creative process directly back to the community.
The murals make their official debut on June 26, during Westerville’s Fourth Friday Festival, alongside the launch of the America250 Westerville Mural Trail—an interactive experience encouraging visitors to explore mural locations and engage with each story.
