Celebrate America 250 at Uptown Westerville’s June Fourth Friday

Mary McCarthy

This June, Uptown Westerville will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with an evening filled with history, art, music, science, and community connection.

On Friday, June 26, Fourth Friday will transform Uptown into a vibrant celebration of the people, stories, and experiences that have shaped our nation and our community. Families, friends, and visitors are invited to enjoy a wide variety of free activities while exploring the unique shops, restaurants, and businesses that make Uptown Westerville a destination.

At the heart of the celebration will be the America 250 Zone, where guests can meet the artists behind the America 250 Westerville Mural Project and learn how public art will help tell Westerville’s story as part of the nationwide semiquincentennial celebration.

The Westerville Historical Society will host story time activities, sharing local history and inspiring the next generation to connect with the community’s past.

Children and families can participate in hands-on crafts including:

  • Create-your-own bookmarks
  • Patriotic bandana decorating
  • Color-your-own mural activities

Visitors can also enjoy classic games and activities including:

  • Cornhole
  • Hula hoops
  • Giant Jenga

As a special treat, Orange Leaf Westerville will provide free frozen yogurt to the first 500 visitors who stop by the America 250 Zone.

Adding a unique educational element to the evening, COSI will bring interactive science experiences to Uptown, including hands-on robotics activities designed to engage curious minds of all ages.

Throughout the evening, visitors will enjoy live entertainment across Uptown, including performances by local favorite Chuck Starr, a teen dance party hosted by DJ Matt Ryan, and performances by Generations PAC. Members of the Westerville Symphony will also be in attendance, showcasing the arts and culture that enrich our community year-round.

Art lovers won’t want to miss Arts Alley, hosted by the Art Council of Westerville, featuring local artists, interactive activities, and creative projects for children.

As the sun sets, Uptown Westerville Inc. will add a patriotic glow to the evening by distributing free red, white, and blue flashing glow rings and large foam glow wands while supplies last.

Of course, no Fourth Friday would be complete without delicious food trucks, shopping, dining, and opportunities to discover Uptown’s locally owned businesses.

“America 250 is an opportunity to celebrate our shared history while creating new memories together,” said Lynn Aventino, Executive Director of Uptown Westerville Inc. “We wanted this event to reflect the spirit of Westerville—a community that values education, creativity, civic engagement, and bringing people together.”

Whether you’re interested in history, science, art, music, food, or simply spending time with family and friends, Fourth Friday’s America 250 Celebration offers something for everyone.

Join us June 26 in Uptown Westerville for an unforgettable evening as we honor 250 years of American history and celebrate the community spirit that continues to shape Westerville today.
