Straining over strains? Here’s how to find the cannabis varietals for you

We’ve all heard it, the adage that cannabis falls neatly into one of two categories: calming and sedative indica or energetic, stimulating sativa.

Like most things in the world, it’s not that cut and dried (pun intended), meaning the wide world of cannabis strains–and the answer to the age-old question of “Which strain is best for me?”–ends up being a lot more nuanced.

“Because of the evolution of cannabis genetics, nearly all modern strains are technically hybrids in some form,” said Morgan Hall, director of product development at Firelands Scientific, the parent company behind the Columbus dispensary The Landing.

Hall noted that, because of this, The Landing usually suggests that customers pay attention to the terpene profile in a specific product, and note their own personal experiences with each one.

Every product listed on The Landing’s website contains not only its primary strain (indica, sativa or hybrid), but also the terpene profiles, and a breakdown of how much of each terpene is present.
