Wines of Ohio: A guide to explore this summer
There’s a lot to love about an Ohio summer, and the thriving wine scene deserves a spot on that list. Across the state, small vineyards and family-run wineries are waiting to be discovered and enjoyed all season long.
Unsure where to start? A statewide effort called Uniquely Ohio, administered by the Ohio Grape Industries Committee, has you covered. The campaign spotlights the growers, winemakers, and small businesses shaping Ohio’s wine industry, and the role they play in strengthening communities across the state. Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Brian Baldridge said, “Ohio wineries—and the people behind them—have created an incredible range of wines and experiences rooted in their communities. The Uniquely Ohio campaign encourages people to discover those wines and experiences right here in our home state, while highlighting the important role these businesses play in agriculture, tourism, and local economies across Ohio.”

And there’s a lot to discover. Ohio is the seventh-largest wine producer in the country, with more than 450 licensed wineries spread across nearly every corner of the state. From big cities to small towns, award-winning wine is closer to home than you might think. It’s also better than a lot of people realize: Ohio wineries regularly earn national and international medals, holding their own against bottles from far more well-known regions. Behind that quality are the growers and winemakers who’ve turned a shared love of the craft into something worth traveling for.
Part of the appeal is just how much variety there is to choose from. Ohio is home to seven distinct wine regions, each shaped by its own landscape, climate, and community of winemakers. From lakefront vineyards to rolling hills to urban tasting rooms, every region offers something a little different—and all of them are worth exploring.

Whether you’re planning a day trip or simply curious about what’s nearby, Uniquely Ohio makes it easy to find your next favorite pour. Click here for a full map of the wineries and regions.
