200-year-old Central Ohio inn sold to new owners
A new owner is stepping in at one of Central Ohio’s most iconic properties.
The Buxton Inn in Granville, which first opened in 1812, has been sold to a group tied to the former owners of the Worthington Inn, according to a report from The Reporting Project.
The buyer, Worthington-based New England Development Company, is taking over after the property spent months on the market with several price cuts before drawing multiple offers.

Dating back to 1812, the Buxton Inn is one of Ohio’s oldest continuously operating inns, with 25 guest rooms across five buildings in the heart of Granville.
Local officials said the sale helps ensure the landmark stays intact and continues operating as a hotel, a key draw for the village.
The inn has seen recent challenges, including a 2022 fire caused by an electrical issue that disrupted restaurant operations, which have yet to fully return.
Now under new ownership, the focus turns to what’s next—but the building’s place in Central Ohio history isn’t going anywhere.
