On March 16, AJ’s Tacos, located at 3307 Sullivant Ave. and known for their birria and street tacos, hopped on a viral soft-serve margaritas trend and introduced pineapple, strawberry, lime, mango, and swirl versions of the frozen concoction to their menu, becoming the self-proclaimed “first in Columbus with the fire soft serve margaritas,” according to a social media post

AJ’s previously told 614NOW that the viral margaritas—frozen cocktails with the texture of soft-serve ice cream—were an immediate hit with their customers, bringing in “lines of people daily.” And now, other local eateries are jumping on the bandwagon.

La Plaza Tapatia—located at 255 Georgesville Rd. and touted as Ohio’s largest Latino supermarket—began selling their version of the frosty treats in early April, with mango, strawberry, and mango-strawberry swirl flavors. “We’ve perfected the recipe for the perfect creamy texture and incredible flavor,” the marketplace shared on social media.

Herencia Jalisco at 6542 Hayden Run Rd. in Hilliard then followed suit just two weeks ago, offering strawberry and mango soft-serve margaritas with tequila. “Stop in today and treat yourself to one of these delicious creations,” they shared on their socials. “We guarantee you’ll be back for more!”

Terra Mezcal Mexican Grill at 2171 E. Dublin Granville Rd. also threw their hat into the ring, serving up the supposed “best soft serve margaritas in Columbus, OH,” according to a social media post. Their menu details this offering: “This unique dessert combines the tangy essence of a margarita with the smooth, creamy texture of soft serve ice cream. Every bite delivers a refreshing twist of lime and a subtle hint of tequila.”

So, whose soft-serve margaritas are the real standout? Well, with so many now around the city to choose from, you may just have to sample them and decide that for yourself.
