Columbus axe throwing business abruptly shutters all locations

After eight years in business and a recent 2025 expansion, Dueling Axes permanently closed all locations as of July 31, 2026. Following social media speculation and “Permanently Closed” statuses on online business profiles, 614Now confirmed the closures across Columbus directly with the Dueling Axes team.

“We made the hard decision to close all locations,” Dueling Axes told 614Now. “We sold our mobile unit to another local company called Square Canvas, so it’s still going to be in the community. They’ll rebrand it and run it through their operations.”

Square Canvas: Social Art Studio, is based in Canal Winchester at 10 E Waterloo St, Unit A.

“We did this for eight years and had a really good time doing it,” added Dueling Axes. “The community response across all the markets has been great and we had some fun times. We have been part of people’s core memories, anniversaries, retirements, and wedding parties. We are really going to miss it.”

The axe throwing and sports bar company cited “reasons outside of [their] control” for the closures, experiencing many of the same challenges other restaurants and attractions have been facing over the past several years. 

“We are entrepreneurs, so who knows if there is something else in the future,” said Dueling Axes optimistically. “Nothing is planned for right now. We loved connecting with everyone, and we are sorry it’s gone.”
