Downtown Columbus hotel named Hotel of the Year by ‘Midwest Living’
A hotel in the Franklinton neighborhood is getting its flowers with recognition from Midwest Living.
In Midwest Living’s 2026 Best of the Midwest Awards, Hotel of the Year was awarded to The Junto, a modern, independent lifestyle hotel at 77 Belle St.
“The Junto is that rare breed: a boutique hotel that really earns the name, with no big chain affiliations. Since opening in 2023, the property has become a true community hangout in Columbus’ Franklinton neighborhood. That, combined with amenities you won’t find at other hotels, led us to name it our 2026 Hotel of the Year,” the awards list reads.

The magazine highlighted The Junto’s blend of cozy atmosphere with active social spaces, as well as the attentive, kind staff across the hotel.
A feature that really impressed was the walk-up window behind the hotel that serves both sweet and savory poutine. But above all, the community fostered by The Junto is what won it the title.
“One thing is clear: The Junto is a community hub first, and a hotel second—and that’s what makes it stand out most,” Julia Sayers Gokhal, senior travel editor for Midwest Living, wrote.
