Ohio restaurant of more than 85 years ‘closed until further notice’ after drunk driver crashes into building

A James Beard Award-winning Ohio eatery that’s been open since 1940 is ‘closed until further notice’ after a vehicle crashed into the building.

Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, a BMW sedan crashed into the drive-thru area of Camp Washington Chili, which is located at 3005 Colerain Ave in Cincinnati.

According to a report from Fox 19 Cincinnati, the driver who crashed into the building was charged with an OVI, and no one was injured.

On Tuesday morning, Camp Washington announced in a social media post that it will be closed until damages can be repaired.

“We are hopeful that this will be a short-term closure and that we’ll be able to welcome everyone back through our doors as soon as possible. Our team is already working through the necessary next steps, and we appreciate your patience and understanding while we make sure everything is safe and ready for our customers and staff,” the post reads.

Camp Washington Chili, which has operated at its current home on Colerain Avenue for more than 25 years, won a James Beard Award in the America’s Classics category in 2000.
