Not anymore: new 5th Avenue bridge opens to traffic

The new bridge at 5th Avenue and Dublin Road was projected to open at the end of November. It opened on Sunday…a little late…but nearby residents are just happy to see it open and have traffic be able to pass through again.

With a shared-use lane for bicycles and pedestrians, an added sidewalk and a dedicated left turn lane, the span promises to be an improvement over its predecessor.

A few things are left to be done before the project can be called ‘complete’ including the installation of new traffic signals and a handrail on the shared use lane. Also landscaping and painting remains to be done, but most of that will need to wait a few months until temps begin to climb again.
