Buckeye battle for starting QB job may end in split decision
With less than a week to go until Ohio State kicks off the season and its run for a repeat as national champions, we still don’t know who the starting quarterback is going to be this season. Or maybe we do.
For sure, we know that it won’t be Braxton Miller. Miller missed last season due to injury and this year has moved to a wide receiver role. That leaves us with J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones. Barrett was outstanding last season in place of Miller but went down with an injury during the Michigan game. That left it to Cardale to seal that win and lead the team to victories in the Big Ten Championship Game, the Sugar Bowl and the National Championship Game.
So, having these two incredibly talented guys on the roster is an amazing luxury to have. But you can only start one quarterback. So who is it going to be?
It’s still very close, both guys are performing very well…If you look at J.T.’s game plan when he was our quarterback and Cardale’s, it was very similar. There’s a chance they’ll both play….
– Urban Meyer, Ohio State head football coach
Meyer says that we’ll likely see both guys in the position during the season. In fact, we may see both guys in the position during the same game. The coach says that we’ll know who the starter is going to be vs Virginia Tech when that guy takes the first snap.
The Buckeyes open the season on the road vs Virginia Tech on Monday, September 7th. (jj)
