Busted: Former Safelite employee charged with embezzling $1.5 million

bustedIt recently cost me $100 (through my insurance company) to have my car’s cracked windshield replaced. You could buy 15,000 windshields at that price with the money allegedly stolen by a former assistant manager at Columbus-based Safelite Auto Glass.

A Franklin County grand jury has indicted Aaron Wisenberger on one count each of theft, telecommunications fraud and tampering with records. Investigators say that it was during his time working in Safelite’s accounts payable department that Wisenberger faked invoices, had direct deposits made into his personal account and doctored records to make the whole thing look legit.

If convicted on all counts, he could get more than 20 years in prison. In all, he’s accused of embezzling $1,561,338.03 from Safelite. (jj)
