As part of their Best Place to Live feature, Money magazine has listed Columbus among the top 5 cities in the nation for millenials. For their list, Money looked at cities with populations of 300,000 or higher with above average expected job growth. In ranking the top cities, they considered the following criteria:
- affordability of rent, food and other necessities
- access to grocery stores, pharmacies, medical care, laundromats, etc.
- number of residents age 20 to 34
- reputation for fun bars, restaurants, other activities
Right off the top, I would have expected us to do well in this survey, Here’s a look at the ranking:
- Austin, Texas
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Columbus, Ohio
- Tucson, Arizona
- Seattle, Washington
Of Columbus, Money says:
Between the green and floral Franklin Park Conservatory, creative food venues, unusual art, and good old ball games, young people have plenty of choices for energetic entertainment in the city.
