Huntington customers, bank error NOT in your favor
As a Huntington National Bank customer myself, this was not the wake-up call that I was looking for today.
Thousands of Huntington customers noticed issues with their bank statements today. Credit and debit transactions processed earlier in the week appear to have been processed again overnight. For example, a pair of show tickets that I purchased earlier this week for $128.56 posted to my account for a second time last night.
As Huntington’s social media pages fill with complaints from angry customers, a message from the bank on the company’s website reads:
Debit card transactions were inadvertently double-posted to your account Tuesday evening, October 20th. These transactions were from Monday, October 19th account activity. This will affect your account balance in the short term but your available balance will be corrected today and any fees related to this error will be waived.
For many, the error is a major inconvenience. As someone impacted by the issue, I’m at least happy to know that it will be corrected soon.
Update: It appears that these are rolling corrections. I heard from some people whose accounts were corrected an hour ago, while mine continued to show the duplicate charges. As of 11:30am, my account has now been corrected. (jj)
