The Columbus Dispatch reports that workers in Governor John Kasich’s Riffe Center office were evacuated for a short time today after the discovery of a powdery substance in the mail.
The substance spilled out of an envelope as a worker was opening the morning’s deliveries. The Columbus Fire Department and the Joint Terrorism Task Force responded to the scene. No signs of illness were reported. Once the office was deemed safe, staff was allowed to return to work. Additional testing is planned on the substance.
Kasich was not in the office today. He is in Iowa campaigning for president. (jj)
