Ohio State Fair and ‘American Idol’ are partnering to find Central Ohio’s next superstar
In the 21 seasons of “American Idol,” there has never been a winner from Ohio – could the next victor be you or someone you know?
The Ohio State Fair is partnering with “American Idol” to showcase all of the talent Ohio has to offer. This year, virtual auditions are open starting now until 11:59pm on July 19th. If you think you have the chops, all you need to do is submit a live, unaltered, 60-90 second long song on Instagram, use the hashtag #ohiostatefairidol, and then tag the Ohio State Fair (@ohiostatefair).
The top 8 contestants will win VIP Front of Line passes to audition for the “American Idol” virtual auditions. The top five submissions will be displayed on the big screen in the WCOL Celeste Center, right before featured artists like Yung Gravy, Ludacris, Tyler Hubbard, Lindsey Stirling, and more, take the stage. And last but not least, the first place winner will receive a grand prize of a VIP private audition with the “American Idol” executive producers.

If you’re looking for some advice, The Ohio State Fair encourages contestants to, “Be unique – pick a song that shows off your range, vocal capability, and who you are as an artist. Be yourself — raw unfiltered and unproduced vocals are best. Be memorable — stand out from the crowd!”
For more detailed information, such as requirements and tickets, please visit The Ohio State Fair’s website. This fair takes place July 26th – August 6th. Best of luck!
