Crime of the century as crooks steal $700 worth of cigarettes
[new_royalslider id=”17″]Columbus Police are looking for a group of five individuals involved in stealing more than $700 worth of cigarettes from a Speedway gas station on the city’s East Side Tuesday night.
According to reports, 5 African-American males (1 adult, 4 juveniles) entered the Speedway at 4901 East Main Street at around 11pm. One approached the cash register and asked for four cartons of cigarettes. When the clerk rang up the order and asked for payment, the adult suspect said that he had a weapon and that he was robbing the joint. He then demanded six more cartons of smokes. As the cashier handed the cartons to the perp, that guy then handed the cigarettes to the other “gentlemen.”
Loaded down with their cancer sticks, the group ran off.

The cashier described the lead guy as being in his 30’s, approximately 6’1″, 160lbs, and wearing a black hooded jacket, black t-shirt, black pants, black shoes, cloth gloves and a grey winter “flap” hat covering his head/neck/ears. The clerk believes that he had an “African” accent.
Anyone with information is asked to call CPD’s Robbery Unit at 645-4665 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 645-4749. (jj)
