Clintonville restaurant closes to reopen a newer, bigger location
When Rodos European Grill closed its Indianola location this summer, the Clintonville community thought they would be left without their go-to carry-out spot for authentic Greek gyros and a side of fries.
But all is well. Rodos, now renamed Rodos Greek Taverna, is back and better than before, and there’s already a new gyro spot that has taken over the Indianola location.
Their closure was intentional, according to owner Erion Permeti, who envisioned his original restaurant concept with a full service bar and indoor dining options. Their Indianola location was small, only able to accommodate a couple of people, and so it turned into a designated neighborhood carry-out spot, which was quite the opposite of what Permeti wanted.

“I refused to keep investing in somewhere that didn’t align with my goals,” explained Permeti.
He found a space in Linworth for sale, and through some mutual connections, he bought the building that now houses Rodos’ newest concept. And yes, this restaurant now has a full service bar and plenty of space for indoor dining and even weekend entertainment. Permeti’s vision has come to fruition. “We got so lucky,” he emphasized.
Rodos’ new location will feature traditional Greek food, which Permeti grew up making and eating. His family is of Albanian descent, and gyros and souvlaki (a marinated pork belly, rotisserie style), are second nature to him. The name for his restaurant is even named after a vacation spot: a small island in Greece called, of course, Rodos. “I wanted to name my restaurant after somewhere that reminded me of being happy,” Permeti emphasized.
Permeti is most excited about the entree options he can now serve, including steaks, pastas, and fresh, never frozen, Branzino that’s flown in daily from Greece. His restaurant now features plenty of Mediterranean seafood specials, like octopus and red snapper as well. Of course, gyros and fries will still be on their menu, too. And now that he has a liquor license, something that he didn’t obtain at his original Indianola location, patrons can wash their Branzino down with a shot of Ouzo (a Greek, anise-flavored liquor), a Santorini Sunrise, or a glass of Greek wine.
Between all of the eating and drinking, guests can also enjoy family-oriented, Greek entertainment on the weekends, including live music and traditional dancing.
“We’re very excited to get this up and going,” said Permeti.
Last week was their soft opening, with a dinner option only, but their grand opening is officially Thursday, August 24th. Their new hours will be 11am-10pm, Sunday through Thursday, and 11am-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Rodos’ Greek Taverna is located at 2151 W. Dublin Granville Rd., in the Worthington/Linworth area.
