Well-manicured staffer did Kasich reelection work on taxpayers’ dime
Update: While the talk was about the Lt. Governor’s former chief of staff getting manicures during work hours…and getting paid for the time…it turns out that wasn’t all that she was doing. Info from the Inspector General’s report also shows that Laura Johnson used part of the time, for which she was being compensated by taxpayers, to work on the 2014 Kasich reelection campaign.

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting on findings from a report by Ohio’s inspector general dealing with the former chief of staff for Lt. Governor Mary Taylor.
The investigation centered around 533 hours that Laura Johnson claimed were work hours, though her car wasn’t in its space at the Riffe Center parking garage. The investigation showed that Johnson billed the state for 86 hours of time that she was driving to / from work and to / from hair and nail appointments, all while there was no official business on her calendar. In all, she received just over $5,000 in compensation for time when she wasn’t actually working.
Lt. Governor Taylor asked for and received Johnson’s resignation in mid-2014. Johnson will not face criminal prosecution. (jj)
