Wexner Center reopens today
The Wexner Center for the Arts will open its doors on Wednesday. This will be the first time that the center has welcomed patrons since a former employee took his own life inside one of the galleries on Sunday. The center says that it will not resume the run of the scheduled exhibition After Picasso: 80 Contemporary Artists. Here is the full statement from the Wexner Center as released on social media:
Our profound thanks for the outpouring of support we have received following the tragedy that occurred last weekend. Moments like these help us remember what matters. For us, that’s you: our loyal members, fans, friends, and patrons who help make the Wex a place that fuels artistic expression and propels creative discovery. With the blessing of campus public safety officials, we’re ready to get back to that invigorating work once again.
We are pleased to re-open our doors, beginning tomorrow.
Heirloom Café, the Wexner Center Store, and the Patron Services Desk will be up and running. ZOOM, our annual celebration of low-cost family entertainment from around the world, will go on as scheduled. We regret that After Picasso: 80 Contemporary Artists will be closed for the remainder of its scheduled run.
We are especially grateful for the consummate professionalism and bravery with which university and Columbus security personnel contained this shocking—though isolated—incident, and we deeply appreciate your continued engagement and support. We look forward to personally welcoming you to the Wex.
