New, third concept by Pelino’s Pasta owners coming to former Tasi restaurant
Vincent and Christina Pelino are on a roll – and no, we’re not just talking about the hand-rolled rigatonis they make at their popular pasteria, Pelino’s Pasta.
Last November, the Pelinos opened their second concept, Piazza Pelino, in the building that once housed Short North Piece of Cake. Now, they’re working on their third at 680 N. Pearl St., in the former Tasi space, which closed last August after 17 years of business in the Short North.
“When both of these spots went down, we knew it was a bummer for our community, and we decided to reimagine these spaces and keep them alive,” Vincent Pelino emphasized.
Their third concept will serve as an event space, where they’ll offer elevated pasta cooking classes, specialized chef’s tastings, wine tastings, and an upscale space for large parties and events.

They’re projected to open on March 22 with a special event, which guests can sign up for in the upcoming weeks on their website. For the moment, they’ll be focused on experience-based opportunities there, with private cooking classes and private dinners, but we’ll see what they have planned up their sleeve next! The private dinners will feature all of the Pelino’s Pasta favorites, but they’re also wanting to expand their coursed dinners to feature up to 9 courses.
“At Pelino’s, we get a lot of requests for large parties and corporate dinners, and our pasta classes sell out so quickly because our space is on the smaller side, so [this expansion] will allow us to have a space to increase these experiences, and provide more to our community,” said both Vincent and Christina.
The Pelinos love the Short North community, and Christina mentioned that, “There are so many people who appreciate good food and culture here. As a member of the community, I feel connected to the Short North, and I love the vibrancy of this neighborhood.”
