Drink up, Columbus: Old brewery gets a new image

Commonhouse Ales will be replacing Smokehouse Brewing Co., which has been in central Ohio for 17 years. The company is striving to become the state’s first B-Corporation brewery, where a portion of its profits will go to area charities.

“Why would we be called Smokehouse if we’re not doing any smoking there?” the owner Lenny Kolada said. “That really bothered me. Didn’t feel right. Smokehouse is where you come to experience the brewpub. It’ll be our incubator for Commonhouse. We’ll be known as Commonhouse on the streets.”
