There’s more: Cars crash into fried chicken spot, Columbus non-profit; both temporarily closed

In the wake of High Street’s Char Bar being temporarily shuttered after a pickup struck it, two other Columbus spots—one a fried chicken chain and the other a Franklinton non-profit—have recently suffered a similar fate.

On the same day (Sept. 1) that Char Bar was the victim of a hit and run crash, the Popeyes location on E. Livingston Avenue was also struck by a vehicle.

The details of the crash are unclear, but photos from the incident show a white sedan after the crash with its rear portion sticking out from the side the storefront.

The eatery is temporarily closed. It’s unclear for how long, but red “Danger” signs from the city deem it currently unsafe to occupy.

Additionally, a community nonprofit helping the Columbus area with bicycle repairs and more recently endured a car crash, and will remain closed until it can be repaired.

On Aug. 25, a car traveling W. Broad St. ran into Franklinton Cycle Works, causing “serious damage” to the building. The nonprofit has a GoFundMe page to raise money for repairs. You can donate to it here.

“Yes the shop is closed. The city has deemed it unsafe for occupancy until we can make repairs to satisfy the structural engineer of the building’s safety,” said Franklinton Cycle Works executive director Jack Youngman. “We’re hoping these repairs will be made this week and we might be allowed to open on Wednesday or Thursday. But we’ll see. The full repairs will take much longer.”
