West Mound Elementary school on the Hilltop was the subject of significant vandalism when 23 windows were shot on Friday, and 19 windows were shot or broken over the weekend.
Authorities think the damage was caused with a BB gun, but students and teachers are shaken from the incident. Many windows have been boarded up in the aftermath.
The spokesman for the Columbus City School district, Scott Varner, said that students were never in any danger because the vandalism occurred when no one was in the building.
Costs to repair the damage are estimated to be about $20,000. The incident is currently under investigation by Columbus police.
