Store security cameras catch thief stealing security system

A press release sent out this morning details the strange crimes of Donald Hurley, a man who is so awesome it almost hurts to think about.

Wearing a conspicuous T-shirt emblazoned with the words “this is what awesome looks like,” Hurley broke into an East Side shop and attempted to steal a home security system.

But the security system’s box proved to be, well, too secure for Hurley to open.

Hurley left the store and returned with a knife. He cut the box open and shoved the components down his pants. Presumably he took them home to protect his other stolen goods.

Of course, all of this was caught on the store’s security camera.

“I am left to wonder, is this a thief with a flair for satire or does irony just completely escape him?” First Assistant City Prosecutor Bill R. Hedrick said in the press release.

Hurley’s past criminal record includes a number of misdemeanor charges and several drug-related felonies.
