I-71 NB reopened after two semis collide
A semi overturned on I-71 northbound this morning, scattering debris across the highway and killing one.
49-year-old Terry Allen of Poplar Bluff, Missouri was driving at about 2:45 a.m. when he drifted over the median. As he corrected his course, his semi tipped over, blocking both lanes of I-71.
Another semi driver, Al Amburn, 66, of Lebanon, Tennessee was driving behind Allen and could not stop in time. His semi slammed into Allen’s and scattered debris across the highway.
Allen was pronounced dead at the scene, while Amburn was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
The accident occurred State Route 56 and U.S. Route 62 near the Franklin and Pickaway County line.
I-71 has since reopened after being closed for almost 12 hours.
