Short North Posse on the way out: 5 found guilty

Five members of former Columbus gang the Short North Posse were found guilty of various charges Thursday, and all five could be facing life in prison.

The members of the Weinland Park gang were convicted of charges that included racketeering, drug charges, murder and weapons charges. They were found guilty on all counts of which they were accused.

The five men are the first to be tried of the 20 people indicted in a swath of 2014 arrests related to the gang.

Area residents in Weinland Park say their neighborhood has become much safer since the arrests were made.

One resident said the peace of mind has extended of everyday occurrences, such as sitting by an open window and enjoying the breeze without the fear of being broken into.

Five more members of the Posse are scheduled for trial in July and September.
