Back in the day, the market had a bell tower that would ring twice a day to signal the beginning and end of the commercial day, but fell during the 1948 fire and has been hanging out in the basement of the North Market (where it is today) since. The reinstallation of the bell has finally begun, although it won’t ring twice a day, it will still be a memento from the past, according to Columbus Underground.
