Sorry Kids! Starting Today You Can’t Vape (Legally) If You’re Under 18

Today marks the start of a federal law regulating any tobacco-related products such as e-cigs and hookahs. They will no longer be available to anyone under 18. According to the FDA, 3 million high school and middle school students were vaping in 2015.

Despite the fact that that ‘tobacco’ is absent in nearly all forms of e-cig vaping, it is targeted in the new FDA regulations for the presence of nicotine.

A recent study in Environment Science & Technology found that in addition to cancer causing toxins like formaldehyde found in e-cigs, they also contain two previously unidentified chemicals that can cause cancer.

“I want to be able to know exactly what I’m putting in my body. I don’t want to be inhaling some bizarre cocktail some random dude mixed up in his basement.” An e-smoker said, wishing to remain anonymous.

Still, swathes of studies have come out indicate vaping is a far less harmful way to ingest nicotine. Many vape stores and e-cig companies have branded it as an easy way to quit smoking.

“Vaping has helped people quit smoking,” says Eddie Mohamed, manager of Tobacco Discounters in Clintonville to nbc4i. “There’s no tar, no additives, no smoke.”

E-Cigarettes and vaping have hundreds of flavor liquids that now must be regulated by the FDA, similar to how cigarettes are regulated. These regulations will surely raise the cost of your vaping devices and liquids, making it a less economical way to take in your nicotine.
