The Fare of Your Columbus Uber Rides Will Increase by 22%

Uber announced Friday that the minimum fare for rides in Columbus will be raised from $4.45 to $5.45. These changes were made effective on Friday.

This change primarily affects passengers taking very short trips as after the fare exceeds the minimum, the price is no different from before and UBER calculates the ride normally.

According to UBER, the change was in response to driver’s complaints that quick, short rides are not profitable enough. Prior to the fare change, a minimum distance trip of $4.45 netted the driver $2.25 after the booking fee and Uber’s 25% commission are taken out.
