Thanks polar vortex: Record attendance at the state fair

Partially because of the cooler weather (rather than the typical scorching heat) the Ohio State Fair broke its attendance record with 111,169 people walking through the gates and stomping through the fair grounds to witness the bacon booth, bear show and all the other fair festivities for themselves, according to the Dispatch. Last year’s record saw 903,824 people at the fair. Thanks to the less intense heat, more people were inclined to brave the slighly less sweaty crowds.
