Fake Wounded Warriors scammer gets 3 years in prison

A man accused of scamming people by soliciting money to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and impersonating undercover deputy in Grove City was sentenced to three years in prison. The charity said they do not have any door to door operations and the man, Joseph Earl Steward, has never sent them any money. He allegedly also tried to solicit money for injured law enforcement officers while impersonating a deputy. Steward pleaded guilty three felony counts including fraudulently soliciting for a charity, one count of impersonating an officer and one count of tampering with records.
