Columbus getting smarter (transportation)

We’re finally being recognized for our smarts! Well, at least our ideas for smart technology options. In wake of winning the United States Department of Transportation’s Smart City challenge last summer, we’re about to get some new “smart” stuff around the city, mostly stuff regarding transportation.
Here are a few of the items included in the new agenda:
- real-time traffic/parking data
- charging stations for electric cars
- driverless shuttles around Easton
We’re also slated to get a new COTA bus called the CMAX which will operate around Cleveland Ave. between downtown and Polaris. It is faster than regular busses but less expensive than a metro system. It will have the capability to make red lights shorter and green lights longer. If only we ALL could drive CMAXs..
