The Ohio House passed Judy’s Law 95-0 this afternoon. This law will allow judges to tack on an extra six years to felonious assault conviction if that person uses an accelerant to disfigure someone.
It is named after Judy Malinowski who was doused in gas and then lit on fire by her ex-boyfriend, Michael Slager, in August 2015. She survived the attack but is left with severe burns on 98 percent of her body.
Slager was sentenced to 11 years in prison for aggravated arson among other charges.
Judy’s Law will now move on to the Ohio Senate.
