Let COTA handle work commute, FREE bus passes for downtown workers

A cost-efficient, eco-friendly, and parking-less commute option is launching in downtown Columbus.

Employers can now begin enrolling 45,000 employees for free COTA bus passes (C-pass).

The C-pass program will kick off June 1 and will continue through 2020.

Employees who work for participating companies within the Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District are eligible for the free bus pass which can be used for any travel, not just work commutes.

Find out which addresses are eligible here.

If your employer is eligible, they must register you. After that, you can use your C-pass in the following ways:

  • A smartphone app
  • A sticker for a company-issued ID or key card
  • A COTA-issued photo ID card

Capital Cross Roads expects between 4,000 and 5,000 to utilize C-passes.

If it proves successful, this program will free up 2,400 parking spaces—the equivalent of four parking garages, reports The Dispatch.

Businesses within the Special Improvement District as well as the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Committee are footing the bill.
