Mastermind of heroin ring doesn’t fool Franklin County Judge
You are looking at the face of the ringleader that brought a massive heroin circus to town.
Jose Govea-Jiminez, 48, was sentenced to 21 years in prison for multiple drug-related charges, reports ABC6.
“When I was a child and I would listen to this country’s anthem, my skin would crawl,” Jiminez said said via his interpreter, reports ABC6. “And actually at this time I feel the same. I love this country. And I apologize.”
Judge Cocroft called his bluff though, saying his apology was “disingenuous.” His statement did not affect his sentencing.
According to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien, Govea-Jiminez orchestrated a drug trafficking organization that was receiving anywhere from 70-100 kilos of heroin from Mexico. They had stations in Hilliard, Columbus, and Lewis Center.
