Mums the word. School board not talking on misspent travel spending

The school board isn’t saying too much concerning former superintendent Bart Anderson galavanting across the country staying in $799 a night hotel rooms. While Anderson is being asked to repay about $96,000 worth of unapproved travel and booze spending, there was still $380,000 worth of trips that was approved by the board.

Why was that much approved in the first place?

“I can’t address that right at this point,” said school board president, Joyce Galbraith, according to the Dispatch. Auditor Dave Yost has described the expenses as “gag-inducing” the paper reported.

Audit reveals thousands misspent by superintendent

An audit has turned up more than $90,000 that was spent on travel expenses by Bart Anderson, former superintendent of the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, but those travel times weren’t for business. From the Ritz Carlton to the Waldorf Astoria, Anderson was blowing through state money on lavish hotels, and it was found out that 112 of those trips weren’t approved by the board, the Dispatch reported. He also bought alcohol, which brought his grand total of money spent more than $100,000. Anderson is now being required to pay it all back.
