FMMF debuts to sparse crowds, fashion lost
Fashion Meets Music Festival was riddled with problems from the beginning, including a controversial headliner that sparked so much backlash that R. Kelly was later yanked from the lineup. The Labor Day weekend festival also didn’t seem to draw in the crowds that it wanted. The festival spanned three stages, runway shows and tickets that ranged from free to $250 (which could get confusing). The inaugural event took over the Arena District and some of the smaller events didn’t drag in the crowds like other festivals can, according to Columbus Business First. Some local retailers weren’t all the pleased with their part in the festival either, and Joe Valenti, owner of Flower Child, said “fashion missed music on this one,” according to the paper.
