What’s for dinner? Many locals don’t know

Food security in Columbus is twice as bad as previously thought.

Ohio State conducted a study using neighborhoods including Franklinton, Arena District, Italian Village, the Ohio State campus area, parts of Weinland Park, Linden, Milo-Grogan and the Near East Side and found 32 percent of all households had low or very low food security.

Individuals affected by food shortage often skip meals causing physical issues while the uncertainty of their next food source cause significant mental detriments. Often times, food insecurity is caused by an absence of a full-service grocery store nearby.
