“It is time for change.” Short North Cajun joint sets sail

No April Fools jokes here, Da Levee will close it’s doors on Sunday, April 1. But the owner isn’t going anywhere.

“It is time for change,” wrote owner Justin Boehme on Facebook. “I plan on closing the doors to Da Levee at 765 N. High Street on April 1st. This is not an April Fools joke, just coincidental timing.”

During the closure at 765 N. High St., Boehme and his team will do a complete renovation of the space and reopen as an “exciting” new concept featuring pop-up kitchens, local drafts, cocktails, small market, and bar games.

Columbus Business First reports he hopes to have the new spot opened in only three weeks.

It was a good eight-year run but Boehme sees a need for change.

“The neighborhood is changing and the company must develop and adapt with that change,” he wrote.

But you don’t have to completely mourn the loss of Da Levee. Boehme shared on Facebook that the Gahanna location will remain open but will soon go under the name Rouxperts soon to mirror the name of Da Levee’s catering service.

Da Levee’s Cajun and Creole fixings will also make appearances as a pop-up in the new concept.

“I want to thank every last one of you that walked through the door and gave me a chance!” wrote Boehme. “I moved to this great city to open my restaurant without knowing a single person or knowing any other street names besides High Street. I have fallen in love with this city and now call it home. It is certainly a sad day to close a restaurant, but even more exciting to bring you all the next chapter. I can not wait to premiere the new concept!”
