Dangerous bars have liquor license denied
Bars that have seen serious violence won’t be able to keep the booze flowing. Both Charlie Bear Land of Dance and the Red Zone were denied liquor licenses by the state. The latter had a fatal shooting at a concert in December along with another shooting in November. Police also said that in 2013 a couple hundred calls came in that led the police to the Red Zone and it had been rampant with underaged drinking, the Dispatch reported. As for Charlie Bear, between January of 2013 and this April there were 118 calls for police (between its current location on Olentangy River Road and the South Campus Gateway space), according to the paper. Those calls ranged from rape, assaults, fights, public intoxication, drug use as well as in December a man had been shot outside the club after an argument.
