Made in Cbus: Furniture made locally, grown locally

How proud would be to eat dinner on a table that was not only made locally but grown locally?

That’s the mission or Urbn Timber, based right here in Columbus.

This team of passionate, highly-trained furniture craftsmen collaborates with arborists in the area to salvage trees that have been removed due to storm damage, potential hazard, new construction, disease or death and transforms them into beautiful hardwood furniture.

Urbn Timber calls this “up-cycling.”

But the process from tree to table is not a simple one.

After the tree is felled by arborists, the slabs are air-dried for 12 to 24 months to preserve their vibrancy.

Then they are kiln-dried for three months to ensure stability and longevity.

The Urbn Timber craftsmen then work with customers to establish a vision for the piece—be it a custom dining room table, bar, shelf, bench, headboard, or something yet to be imagined.

And after the dust has flown, the sweat has dripped, and the hours have been logged, the tree is reborn into a beautiful centerpiece for your home.
