Big manufacturers say no to polar vortex charge

Ohio’s manufacturing community is none to pleased about the surcharge FirstEnergy has slapped onto their bills after the severe winter, and some of them aren’t paying it. The surcharge was levied on nonresidential customers and 18 companies have gone ahead and filed a complaint because they had a fixed rate plan. The energy company is planning to make moves to collect on the charges that companies don’t plan to pay. The customers have argued what good is a fixed rate if extra charges can be dumped on them? FirstEnergy is saying that they have every right to levy surcharges.
