Local man unknowingly shoots, kills granddaughter

One local man is without his granddaughter today after he accidentally shot her Wednesday night.

Nineteen-year-old Jordan C.V. Williams was found lying in the front yard of her grandfather’s home in the 1200 block of Berkeley Road late last night.

Williams lived with her grandfather, 72-year-old Booker Moody, but did not have her keys with her.

She knocked on a bedroom window to wake up her grandfather, reports 10TV.

Alarmed and not realizing it was his granddaughter, he allegedly fired a shot through the window.

Williams died from her injuries at Grand Medical Center.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers treated the scene as an active shooter situation and SWAT was called to the residence.

Moody has been charged with her murder.
