Columbus cracks down on slumlord

A Columbus landlord is getting jail time after failing to adhere to his probation which required him to keep his properties up to code.

The City of Columbus PACE Team (Proactive Code Enforcement) filed criminal cases last year against Jose Villavicencio, 55, for violations at the following properties: 1664 Parsons Ave., 214-216 Dana Ave., 252 South Harris Ave., and 289-291 Brehl Ave.

He was given probation for failure to make necessary repairs with the stipulation that he bring all of his 40+ properties up to Columbus City Code, reports NBC4i.

But then earlier this week, Villavicencio violated his probation by having more than 30 properties throughout the city not up to code.

He owns properties under his own names as well as under the following LLCs:  South German Village, LLC, South German Village Medical Center, LLC, and Argos, LLC.

Villavicencio was sentenced to 178 days in jail.
