Hilliard mom guilty in child endangerment case
Michael Wilder woke up after about ten hours of sleeping and looked in on his 16-month-old daughter. He realized the fan he had turned on was actually a heater and his daughter Maiya wasn’t responsive. He woke the mother, Greta Sahatciu, and the couple took their daughter to Nationwide Children’s where the girl died two days later after coming in with a fever of 106 degrees. She was also malnourished to the point that she weighed about what an an average 7-month-old would weigh. Sahatciu pleaded guilty Monday to three misdemeanor counts of child endangering and a felony count of tampering with evidence after she moved the space heater. The couple’s other two daughters were also developmentally delayed and malnourished and are now in foster care. Wilder’s trial is set for Dec. 1.
