Cops could start pulling you over for texting

Right now, as the law stands, police officers cannot pull over drivers solely for texting while driving. They would have to wait for the person to do something else (run a red light, etc.) and only then could they write a ticket for the offense. Lawmakers are looking to change that so that officers can begin to pull over drivers for texting. “It will make Ohio’s highways safer,” said Rep. Rex Damschroder who is planning on introducing the bill, according to WTVN. He said that states that allowed officers to pull over texters have had a 3 percent decrease in fatalities.
