Unlucky 13 arrested in drug ring bust
Tuesday morning, DEA agents swept through the city, on the prowl for 20 people who the agency thought to be part of a drug-trafficking ring. The sweep took place before the sun rose and ended with 13 arrests. The indictment has said the drug ring has been operating for three years, the Dispatch reported, and the charges included intending to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin. A special agent from the IRS released a statement saying, “By following the money trail, IRS special agents helped to disrupt and dismantle this major drug trafficking organization that attempted to conceal the true source of their money from the government.”
