Good to Great: Short North burger boy reopens this week
One of Short North’s longest-standing restaurants will reopen this week after a months-long renovation closure.
Short North’s Goody Boy will be back and better than ever beginning Thursday, March 14.
Michael’s Goody Boy Diner, located at 1144 N High St., closed at the beginning of January after Corso Ventures, the company that brought us Pint House, Standard Hall, Forno, and more, purchased the business and mapped out its makeover.

The Goody Boy name and building remain the same, but the inside will be revitalized. As far as the food and drinks go, Corso Ventures promised “a unique spin on comfort food classics” and “classic cocktails reimagined with a modern twist.”
Michael Pappas opened the restaurant in 1947. It’s changed hands many times since then, but was most recently owned by Jim Velio of Jimmy V’s Grill and Pub.
Velio restored the iconic Goody Boy sign to its original style with neon lighting.
Goody Boy will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days per week. Brunch will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
