Bugs and Sex: What went down during Ohio Polar Vortex
The Polar Vortex was brutal, but we made it through. You know what didn’t make it through, though? Stink bugs. And you know what thrived? The adult film business.
When the temperatures in late January dipped far below zero, it wiped out a lot of stink bugs…95% of them, in fact. The bitter cold also killed off huge amounts of other invasive insect species like the Emerald ash borer and southern pine beetles, according to a study by Virginia Tech University, cited by the National Pest Management Association.
Unfortunately, cockroaches, bed bug, mosquito, and termite populations were completely unaffected by the cold blast.

“It seems as more people were forced to spend time indoors, they preferred to heat things up by visiting their favorite porn site,” wrote Pornhub.com, referring to its “Polar VorteXXX” insights.
According to the stats, adult film watching was up 6% on January 30-31.
Other states in the Midwest, like Minnesota (that broke a record with a 22% traffic increase), Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois, also experienced spikes in porn viewing.
